Updates.

Obama Dropped Flag Pin in War Statement. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for "true patriotism" since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Report: Israel 'blinded' Syrian radar. US aerospace experts tell Aviation Week magazine that Israel used new US-developed technology that lets users invade and manipulate enemy communication networks.

Vietnam Veterans Legacy Foundation. This is an organization created to better educate and inform the public about the Vietnam War, its events, its history, and the men and women who sacrificed to serve their country. [It's a very informative website and I'm glad it's up and running. What I find most interesting about the Vietnam Era's anti-war movement is the role Jane Fonda played in encouraging young American troops to turn against their commanders and mission. The website offers transcripts of Hanoi Jane's propaganda broadcasts, aimed at American POWs, pilots and airmen. I don't know much about Jane Fonda- all I know is she starred in a movie with Jennifer Lopez and Michael Vartan. Loved the film, by the by, but now that I know more about this evil hag, I will never watch that film again.]

Enemy soldiers chillin' with Hanoi Jane.

True Heroes: Young American soldiers in Vietnam.

General Odierno: The Surge is working. “Violence throughout the country has dropped to a level not even seen before the first bombing of the Golden Mosque in 2006,” he continued. “Last week, we saw a slight rise in attacks as al Qaeda attempted its own Ramadan surge, but for the large part, Iraqi Security Forces, as well as Coalition forces, were successful in interdicting most of them.”

In past years, Ramadan meant extremist attacks, the general said. Not so this year. “Attacks have decreased, and signs of normalcy across Iraq are starting to appear,” he said.
